Back to the Land of "Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity"
Well, Rose and I are back in France now! We arrived on Monday... she stayed with me in Paris until Wednesday. And it is now Thursday. Now you're up-to-date!
Just kidding! :)
My flight went very well. I got four seats all to myself!!! So I was able to stretch out and get a good chunk (about four hours) of sleep. Deo gratias! Rose's flight, unfortunately, was not so fortunate. ;) She had to sleep sitting up and apparently didn't meet a single nice person her whole trip. It cost her $5 to send one e-mail (only the subject line too!) from Chicago... and that set the tone for the whole trip. But we arrived in one piece and our luggage arrived with us! ("Alas," says Rose, who was hoping the airport would ship it to Normandy for her, so she could thereby avoid toting it through airport, metro, train, and car - LOTS OF STAIRS!!!!)
We didn't do much upon arrival... just hung out and adjusted to the time. On Tuesday, we spent several hours finishing the process for my carte de séjours. And on Wednesday, she took the 12:25 (pm, of course! :)) train to Caen. I almost did too! LOL! I was helping Rose get her luggage on the train when the doors started to close! I forced one open and jumped to the quai/platform just before the train started moving.
Today, I ran errands and got my TGV ticket for Saturday. I'll be going to Lyon. I'll spend a week with the du Montellier family (a prospective employer) and maybe a week with the Lhomme family... we'll see. Rose and I hope to make it to Jeanne's wedding on November 4, but I don't know how!! Stay tuned. :)
Tout de bon et à la prochaine fois!
